Exploring the Pearl - 15 Years of Journey
by Melanie Georgacopoulos
Sunday 20/10, Hour – 13:00
(Pavilion 8)
Considering this year’s Jewelry Design Competition, themed “The Pearl,” the organization of Kosmima is pleased to host a highly successful jewelry designer of international acclaim to present her innovative approach to pearls.
Ms. Melanie Georgacopoulos is a Greek-French jewelry artist who lives and works between London and Hamburg. With studies that began at the Mokume Institute in Athens, continued in Sculpture at the Edinburgh College of Art, and completed at the Royal College of Art in London, Ms. Georgacopoulos embarked on a journey of exploration in jewelry until she almost karmically “met” pearls and dedicated her career to their contemporary design.
In 2013, after gaining international recognition for her innovative approach to pearls, Melanie was invited to collaborate with the renowned Japanese jewelry house TASAKI, which led to the creation of the M/G TASAKI series—a now-recognized collection in Japan, available at select stores worldwide.
